Good
protective clothing at the When I first
started beekeeping, I wore a white boiler suit with a
cotton mesh head veil, tucked down inside.
I had been told that the bees do not normally go downwards, well, mine did! They came in force, back up inside the head veil and sometimes applying so many stings that after one particular experience, I very nearly gave up beekeeping in my very first year. I decided that enough was enough, and very shortly afterwards, I became the proud owner of a 'Sheriff' all in one suit which to my great relief stopped all further stings. This proved to be a wise decision, ![]() I would now strongly advise anyone taking up beekeeping for the very first time to seriously consider purchasing good protective clothing. Buy the very best you can afford, you will not be sorry. If you like, drop a couple of hints as your birthday is getting closer, or even at Christmas time. After buying my suit, beekeeping became very pleasurable which is what it should be all about, and I have never looked back. I am still wearing that same suit, so it really was a good sound investment. Of course, as well as wearing protective clothing, you will also need some tools ![]() ©
